Headquartered right in the heart of our nation’s Capital Washington D.C., Grilling with Rich follows the grilling and barbecue adventures including recipes for the BBQ and Grill. I frequently check out his website for recipes & to see what’s going on in the world of Barbeque.
 
Rich gives us high ratings on the label & packaging design of Big Ed’s Heirloom (which we take a lot of pride in) and also high ratings our on vinegar based sauce even though he usually is not a fan of this genre. He generally favors some of the others ranging from your more traditional smoky flavored sauces, sweet & tangy & honey mustard flavored sauces. Rich really liked this sauce and could see how people who love vinegar based sauces would really enjoy this sauce & stated that Pigtail Brands sauce would go perfect with that pulled pork sandwich that has been sitting in the smoker for hours! Two weekends ago a friend of mine, James Lipp, who you may remember as one of the victor’s in the Rub My Rib Contest not long ago that was put on by the Charleston Scene took a trip to Warsaw, Virginia to a beautiful place called Mount Airy to do the cooking of a couple of pigs for a friend’s 10 year wedding anniversary using Big Ed’s Heirloom Barbecue Sauce from Pigtail Brands. He ended up meeting up with some very talented and like minded individuals. One of them being J. Tayloe Emery of JTE Creative Group which was formed in August, 2008 to better serve the global NGO and non-profit community with proven and experienced VIP/celebrity engagement, creative strategies, and media development/production. JTE specializes in bringing together high-profile celebrities, artists and VIP’s with the different causes and campaigns who want them to represent their efforts. Rappahannock River Oysters made an appearance with some awesome looking oysters which took a little bath in some Big Ed’s Heirloom and I hear they tasted pretty amazing. May I note that Big Ed’s Heirloom BBQ Sauce is now served at Merrior (Locklie Creeks Marina, Va) on their oysters – raw & roasted! We are very pleased to be involved with these companies in Virginia. Merrior is a gourmet oyster tasting house featuring the celebrated farms of Rappahannock Oyster Company, paired with 4 craft brews on tap or a dozen different wines, champagne and sangria.  If you are in the area make a stop by! Big Ed’s Heirloom BBQ Sauce Takes 2nd And 3rd Place In Charleston Scene’s Rub My Rib

This past saturday we joined up with our friends The Remedy Market to compete in the Rib Off hosted by Charleston Scene Magazine at the Maritime Center and are very pleased to say that we came away with a 2nd place award in the Critics’ Choice category as well as third place position which was the wild card entrant, James Lipp. Both The Remedy Market & James Lipp were both using Big Ed’s Heirloom BBQ Sauce & Marinade from Pigtail Brands to compete. We may as well note while we’re at it that James Lipp also took 2nd place in People’s Choice category. Although there are some things I would have done very differently with regards to the running of the event, this was in fact a great event with the steady, delicious aroma of barbeque filling the air & the beer in full flow. Thanks to everyone who came out to the event and voted. Placing in 3 out of 6 total positions ain’t bad. We will take it.
